The player seems to have been grinding Angel Mode for a good while. I say Angel and not Cruise or Buffet because sharks can spawn bigger than the mermaid and easily gobble down her large immobile self - EXTRA immobile since he or she isn't playing as the default mermaid.
Funny little bug - I had the angel halo while in buffet mode. I used angel mode the night before and as different mermaids too. If I find out what you need to do for this cool but unprotecting effect, I'll post it!
Hey, I don't know if this was addressed somewhere before, but I just bought the game a couple days ago and I've cleared all the shark hunt levels and reached more than 10000 in cruise mode. One thing I am having trouble with is understanding how the sharks work. One moment it seems like I am big enough to eat them, but I simply get eaten, and there have been times where I seemed smaller and ate them without any fish powerup. How exactly am I supposed to know when I can eat a shark? Also, for the powers that shrink the sharks like the Cajun fish and the squid, if I hit them multiple times with the power up, that will shrink them multiple times? And then once they are eaten, a new, bigger shark shows up? Essentially what I am asking is if it's always the same shark until you eat them
The fire and Ink will continuously shrink the shark as long as they are in contact yes! For swallowing them, you have to be at least their size or bigger, unless you activate the eel dash or have puffer vacuum active, then you can be a little smaller. You can only swallow them if they are coming at you, unless you use eel dash
Ok. So after 100%ing the game, I have a few criticisms if you're willing to hear me out. But if you have a set vision for the game, please, don't let me get you down or prevent you from achieving your dream.
To start, The game is phenomenal. The animations are beautiful, and I appreciate the work put into it. I like the game a lot more than I have problems with it. I love almost everything about the gameplay. The mechanics seem to work as intended, and the hard mode cruise is just the right amount of fun. It isn't too difficult, but it isn't too easy. It has a nice balance and a reasonable difficulty curve as you increase in size. The hazards can get to be a bit overbearing, but hey, without them, there wouldn't be enough challenge to come back to. Predator mode is fun. I just wish there were more shark animations, but I'll take what I can get. All the unlockable mermaids also are pretty cool. I like the variety.
First problem. The pink lightskin mermaid is quite difficult to unlock. It took me around 2 and a half solid hours of grinding to get her. Yes, eating sharks is often a regular part of longer cruise sessions, but I tend to only get around 3 per 10000 points, which is around 8-13 minutes, so it is always more efficient to use the shark levels and get one shark per minute. Which of course, takes at least an hour and 40 minutes if you can consistently win. I don't think sharks should be easier to catch as it is supposed to be risky and add to the danger of the scenario, but it should be easier to unlock the character as it will take 1000% longer to unlock this mermaid than it does to unlock the others.
second issue. The halo variant of the game seems to make it so that the mermaid doesn't increase in size as fast, and I couldn't seem to get the mermaid to increase in size past a certain threshold. I don't know if this is intentional or not, but it did lessen my experience. I would have thought that this mode could make it so I could become as big as possible.
That's just my two cents. Again, I'm just another flawed human being, so take my opinions as you will. I appreciate what you've made. Thank you for your time.
Thanks so much!!! Yes there is a glitch in passive mode right now I am fixing, and I agree the pink mermaid takes a bit long to get... I may adjust that we will see!
Once they reach the center of the screen by digesting, you can click them and they will move to the right signifying they are selected :) it takes a few days for them to be fed enough, depending on how much you feed them

A shark sticks around until it drops an egg, then the next one is a new shark. In shark hunt, it is always the same shark

You can only get them if they are coming straight at you, unless you use the eel dash ability
