Awesome job as always with the update, hoping to get more digestion sound from the shark, followed by a huge burp from her, in a future update, pretty please ^^

more prey for mermaid to eat like other mermaids and add belly movements and ripples and rumbles

I've not made it past 42 points in the newest update the shark will follow where I go after some time passes. (Well in the demo version, downloaded the wrong zip.) Even after getting the right download, I can't make it past 750 because the shark keep coming every 5 seconds. And even though I hadn't eaten a single shark it's usually bigger than me. It starts off with the smallest and then it gets right to the biggest after a minute. Also I've been able to eat Eels when they are shocking and still get the power up (sometimes). 

I think the Cajun fish power up should work on the shark, at the very least the smaller ones. I don't think any other suggestion is needed for the power up. 

I feel that eel power up is rather lackluster because it only helps horizontally not vertically and I end up using it accidently more than purposely and either way get eaten. Possibly instead of double clicking it could be assigned to a different command, possibly the right mouse click or a letter key. I would suggest that the eel could  stun the character for a second if not eaten at the right moment. But I don't know what else you have planned for power ups so it may interfere with ideas you're having. 

Alright, after an hour I was able to get past 1000. But still, the shark comes too frequently and grows too rapidly.

Yeah im going to reduce the shark frequency and increase the starting belly capacity in the next update

I like the stun idea, I think I'll put that in. Last update I made it so Cajun fire shrinks the shark more :)

I don't want to come off as overly harsh, but the newest update feels entirely overtuned. Sharks spawn so frequently I need to abandon eating the heart eggs, but the sharks still get bigger every time. Missing those eggs means I can't grow, and end up missing goldfish the same way. Movement is also strange now, with much stronger downward force that makes actually eating moving targets a bit harder; the change is slight but annoying. But the "push" from right to left is also a bit too strong, meaning the mermaid no long stays in the middle but is always drifting to the right. Without the eel powerup (they seem to only want to spawn near the top) or holding "swim" to go down (and thus inch along the bottom, being an easy target for shark), one ends up near enough the back that the larger sharks don't give you enough time to escape. Sponges spawn in such high numbers that mobility becomes immediately constrained, even with the new powerup and the old on. And these issues compound, meaning a run for me usually ends at about 1000 points now, long before the ceiling of growth and, all in all, it becomes more frustrating than fun. I've loved this game for a month and the newest build has cool ideas. Just poorly balanced for now.

I agree, I'm going to drastically reduce the shark frequency and increase the starting belly capacity. I will also consider altering the obstacles and movements. Thanks for the input!

So if I understand this right, I'm incentivised not to eat the shark girl because letting her live gives me a heart egg which increases my maximum size and I shouldn't eat the cajun fish because that burns away the golden fish?

the shark does the same as the egg but gives you more points, and the fire does kill the gold fish so you need to be careful. I'll probably update the info next update 

Pls add a "Chill" mode for just some chilling growing x'D its pretty tough to enjoy while dancing on a nail

I used to be able to move forward and back with A and D, but since the menus update i stopped being able to. Is this intentional or is my game having issues? attempted re-download a few times over the last few days. great game though!

awwww, I thought that was a very good part. Especially with the addition of the Fire Fish, I'm very much missing my ability to control my movements more

i will be balancing the game around these controls, plus I want the experience to be as equal as possible on all platforms

Very relaxing n enjoyable game. I know you said below that you intend to branch out towards non fetish, but I hope you keep making updates for this one. Could expand more into if you have any plans that is.

I am probably going to keep updating this for a few more months as I have more assets that I wish to introduce to the game. After that I may introduce more here or there

Been keeping my eye on this game for the past few updates and I'm impressed. Beyond this project have you considered getting into non-fetish content? I feel like you could go far if you keep applying yourself. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the raunchy stuff and I'd definetly like to see the finished product here, but I think you could make it big if you keep going.

It's my goal to make non fetish games after this :)

They sure do make a nice hook! I took no interests in tampering with the files of Mugen and Friday Night Funkin’ until sensual characters appeared for said games. I put myself through hours and hours of experience so I could get them to work for myself, and it was always worth it. I feel like I can do a few other things with the files I encountered if I really wanted. Pathways can start from all kinds of areas.

Solid update, but the sponges seem like a major step backwards. Full screen and auto-centre for the mermaid would be great as well.
Other than those gripes, keep up the awesome work!

The mermaid moves faster if you are behind, and actually you can full screen on PC with F4! What is it you don't like about the sponges? They fly around too much?

Oh snap, didn't know about the F4, thanks! Sharks have a tendency to hit a sponge and then move diagonally to where you are, additionally there are way too many of them at random intervals preventing you from dodging; kills the fun quickly. Shark hitbox seems janky AF as well, hair and forehead seems to trigger a loss on their first run. Cajun fish should follow the same logic as the other specials.

gotcha, I'll probably be modifying the sponge interactions in the future. I will make power up fish prioritized as well, I was on the fence about it :)

Works now, the shark seem to bounce on the new coral obstacle tho, and will get launched into you, eating you and you can't really react.

Also, the points you get seems to have been heavily inflated, I got to 16.000 really quick. Dunno if it's intentional or not :)

Same for me. Easy to get big scores with multipliers, and little to do at max size. I wish mermaid and her belly could get bigger :D

I am not sure why, but the 3-10-24 version only have one kind of fish, and the shark would not stop cruising since 100+scores. 

Is this normal?

Yeah, I am pretty sure that I paid for it and download the proper version.

Latest version only seems to have the yellow fish, no powerups, and constant shark attacks

You sure you uploaded the right version? I only see 1 type of fish, no power-ups at all, and the shark never leaves. Just a heads up :-)

Menu and pause are nice though, as well as removing the damn whirlpools.

At first I thought they might come later, but still no other fish, or power ups. Nothing! I manage to get +1000 points, but still no other fish. Just the small ones. I tried the demo version just to make sure the update didn't get mixed up with that one. The demo version only allows you to play just a little bit, because the shark follows you and eats you no matter what, even if you try to avoid it! Nice job on that one, so people will want to buy the full version.

I like the menu, but so far I only see one type of fish. The small ones. And yes, I paid for the full version, not demo. 

Is the shark supposed to come all the time? And the whirl pools are gone, didn't like them in the first place x)

Your game is awesome. I saw a little bit of gameplay on YT and I was like Alright, I need to have this. As a kid who enjoyed those fish-eat-fish games and as an adult who thinks mermaids are swell, I've low-key been waiting for years upon years for a game like this be made. I hope more of these pop up in the future because this is such an easy concept not many people have been willing to entertain.

2 things:

Could you make it so pressing an arrow key or the spacebar works just like clicking does? The controls are very good on their own, but having this as an option would be super cool as well.

Do you plan to add to add any lore for at least the playable mermaid? I'd love to know her name and her story and how she looks like from the back and if there's another bracelet on her other arm... like a short a sweet bio would be pretty cool.

Yes, I intend on making the controls work the same no matter what button you press, same with touch screen. As for lore I am happy you like the characters, I love them and the detail AdjectiveNounCombo puts into them as well. I will think about implementing some subtle story telling :)

The game is so much more fun with the arrow keys. Its so much more addicting.

I am with this guy, i really like being able to move around. If someone doesn't want to use it because it feels cheap then they can just not use it.

Maybe it'd be best if a power up gave you arrow keys for a limited time?

Oh, and please keep the keyboard controls. They help sometimes to get unstuck from the whirlpools or swim after the golden fish/heart when you miss it. 

I will be rebalancing the game to make up for the single button control such as getting out of the left side of the screen, but I want the game to be as equal as possible on all platforms for when unlocks become available. I will consider the difficulty of the special items :)

Ok, thanks! The only thing that bugs me is when you can't swim forward or backwards when you get stuck. Keep up the good work. I'll be happy to donate too for your time.

Nice job on updating so fast, I do quite like the game! The warning signs still appear for sharks even if they are too small to eat you though. They don't appear for the 'first attack' phase but for every subsequent pass they do.

Also, would it be possible to have a version of controls that doesn't use the mouse? I understand removing the additional 'down' input methods is a way to get rid of the 'faster descent' exploit, but I preferred being able to play entirely with four keys and not using the mouse.

Finally, a question: How many golden fish can you eat before belly size reaches its cap? When I manage to get more than 2 golden fish in a single run, it doesn't seem like the belly gets any bigger than it was after eating the 2nd golden fish.

I noticed the warning sign bug right after I published 😵‍💫. for controls, I will probably put in spacebar for the keyboard. No need for more than one key, this is a single button game :)

I believe 4 gold fish gets you to max capacity. I think there are 4 different visual belly states, the first 2 are available without any gold fish :) I'll have to check when I can

I really enjoy both versions of the game! Very proper and well done and I feel this has allot of potential! Please keep up with the updates.

my only question is that will there be a possible peaceful game mode without the shark?¿ 

(I know the shark is a key element in the game but I enjoy the cruising element it'd oddly peaceful lol)

Game is super fun to play, you're right about that! I'd absolutely love a small burp when the shark first eats you, and then maybe a deeper, wetter belch once you digest. No idea how hard that'd be to implement but the game over burp would be stellar ^-^

Hi! First of all, congrats for the game, its quite addictive! I have two main questions: 

1. How can the people that have already bought the game know when a newer version is out, as well as from where to download it.

2. How do the gameplay exactly work? I get confused with the heart egg function, it increases your preys size limit, or your own size limit while growing? Which is the difference with the golden fish then? And how you grow exactly, just by getting points?

I'm happy you like it! The heart egg increases your max size so you can keep growing, and the gold fish increases your capacity so you can get more full and grow faster. As far as versions, I believe my devlog posts show up in your feed if you follow me :)

My high score is 2049, once you get to that point youre just too big to swim past the whirlpools.

Very fun, definitely would like a mode where you can win, I loved playing Fishy as a kid and becoming an unstoppable eating machine was great.

And having mentioned wanting to make more games, I'm very excited to see what you make next!

Fantastic game! Are you still planning on adding different shark girls? I know Adjectivenouncombo did all the visual assets and I don't know how comfortable you are adding your own, but I'd definitely recommend more sounds! It would be great to have sounds for the full digestion sequence after the mermaid gets eaten, maybe a scream from on her, a burp from the shark...

Totally agree, having the digestion sound loop for a bit longer would be ace.

Very fun and addicting!  I think a lot of people are already suggesting gameplay mechanics and I think that's great. 

I like the burp sound effect but it would be fun to see a cute animation of her burping after eating a powerup--maybe she can put a hand on her chest and bubbles come out of her mouth with a satisfied expression.  The stronger the power up the bigger the burp?  Or maybe the larger she is the larger the burp is so they start small and cute and then get big and longer as you play.  Just some fun ideas for the art!

The game is awesome, please add modifiers so we can still win nothing feels better than eating the sharks! I know she becomes more buoyant when she eats but does she slow down the more she eats and does she need time to digest?

There will be different modes for something like this! and yes she becomes more bouyant when her belly is bigger. You grow faster when you are more full and you digest over time

Great game, really like the art.

The whirlpools have already been commented on, but I also wanted to add that maybe only the fish/eggs should be able to overlap. Like nothing would spawn over a whirlpool, including other whirlpools.

Also wanted to suggest that you put a slight hue or saturation shift on the different sizes of things to better differentiate. I am having trouble telling what size shark I am dealing with, and as such which ones I can eat.

I agree with the overlapping. For the shark I may make it so the warning isn't there if it is edible. At the same time I do like having to judge myself haha

The cyclones are especially cruel 😔 I keep getting stuck in a vertical row of them. Sometimes heart eggs spawn inside the cyclones & it's impossible to get them.
Are Golden fish suppose to be very rare? I swear I see heart eggs way more, like it's an 8/1 ratio. Would also be nice if the golden fish didn't spawn at the bottom edge, as they're almost guaranteed to escape.
Unintended exploit, potential mechanic, but if you hold both the left & right mouse button, you sinker down exceedingly faster when going forwards and/or backwards.
